Penalties / Suspensions
All penalties as identified in the CHA official rule book will be applied to all
scheduled league games, in addition to the following rules.
a) Any player assessed a major penalty will receive, in addition to that major penalty, a game misconduct penalty. Game misconducts assessed after the first period (second period or overtime) will be suspended automatically for the next game. All major penalties must be written upon the reverse side of the game sheet and must be reported by the home team to proper member of the league executive.
b) Any player penalized for fighting will receive, in addition to the major penalty, a 5 game suspension. Any additional fight will results in a suspension for the remainder of the season. If the second fight occurs in the last 5 games of the season, the player will be suspended for the first 5 games of the following season. However, the suspension will not count as their first fight of that season. The league executive and team reps reserve the right to review each fighting penalty/suspension and repeat offenders may be banned from this league for life.
c) Any player who receives three minor penalties in one game will beassessed a game misconduct. Double minors only count as one penalty for the purposes of applying the three penalty rule.
d) Any players assessed a match penalty (intent to injure) will be suspended for 10 games (subject to review by the league).
e) Any player assessed a second major penalty in the same season will be suspended for 5 games (subject to review).
f) Any player assessed a third major penalty in the same season will be suspended for 10 games (subject to review).
g) Suspensions not able to be satisfied in a given season will be carriedover to the following season.
h) If a team has a player that has a repeated history of showing no regard for the safety of players and/or officials, then it is the team rep
responsibility to make sure that this player does not step on the ice, this also includes any player
i) Any player who physically abuses an official in any game related incident, on or off the ice will be banned for life from this league.
j) Each team will be required to have matching sweaters with numbers assigned to each player for that season. The name and number of the player must be included on the game sheet and coordinate with the roster sheet that has been submitted to the league for that season.The only exception to this rule will be for goaltenders. Each team must have distinguishable colours.
k) If a team wishes to appeal a player
s suspension, they can only appeal the length of the suspension, not the guilt of the player. The league executive, may at its discretion, rule on an appeal if time does not allow for a team meeting to be called. Three members of the executivethat cannot be affiliated with the player being suspended must make the decision.
