Empower With Second in Three Years
2017-10-10
Empower claims second HMHL title in three years.
Like the past few seasons, Empower had its ups and downs during the regular season. They were steady, posting a league low 7 losses while racking up a league high 10 ties.
They had a tough challenge being the bottom seed coming into the playoffs facing the Flyers and their high powered offense but found a way to sneak out back to back wins in games two and three to advance to the finals against Goalline. After a big first game win, Empower stepped backwards, didn’t play up to par, and lost the second game setting the stage for a winner take all game 3. It was an exciting game, with both teams playing very well, trading goals back and forth. With under 3 minutes to play Aaron Akitt broke the 2-2 tie with a powerplay goal and earned Empower a second championship in three years.
Good luck to all teams this season!
